While I’ve never eaten focaccia bread, I felt it needed to be included on my list for a few reasons. The first and main reason being that I just haven’t experimented with bread making yet, and I feel like it’s necessary to do so as a novice baker (I’d say it’s almost like a rite of passage). The other reason is that it’s relatively easy to make and extremely versatile. I’ve seen some versions of focaccia bread that look like art, as people have incorporated vegetables and herbs within it in a way that resembles a pattern or an object (i.e. a flower). There are some recipes that imbue the bread with savory flavors and others that keep it simple, and it’s this — the endless possibilities — that make me so eager to make it sometime this year.
